Voices of the Bayou: Southern Book Tour
Hi friends,
There is something about coming back to a story after it has had time to settle… to breathe… to reveal what you did not yet have eyes to see.
Rainbow Over the Bayou: Jim Crow Through the Eyes of a White Girl was written from that place. Looking back and remembering as I wrote became a quiet reckoning with a childhood that held more than I understood at the time.
The story is set along the Louisiana bayou, where beauty and brokenness often lived side by side. My story follows Mimi, a young white girl, and Willa Mae, the woman who helped raise her. Through the lens of memory, and the passing of years, Mimi begins to see what was always there… the weight of injustice, the tenderness of relationship, and the steady, redeeming presence of God even in the hardest places.
It is a story of what was seen… and what was missed.
Of what shaped us… and what calls us into action.
And now, I have the honor of stepping into a new season with this story… meeting readers, sharing the journey, and listening to the stories it stirs in others.
If you are nearby, I would love to see you.
