A God Moment

Reaching the end of my editing and footnotes for Rainbow Over the Bayou, Jim Crow through the Eyes of a White Girl, I was running on empty—fatigued, with food wrappers, coffee cups, and bottles of vitamin water scattered across my desk and room. Then God gave me a gift I’ll never forget. I looked up from my work and, right outside my window, a brilliant rainbow arced across the sky. Later, it became a double rainbow. A gift overflowing!

God knows just when we need these reminders of His presence. In that moment, I felt Him whispering, I’m still here. I continue to give Him all the glory for this book, trusting Him to be the pen in my hand. I had asked for a sign that He was still with me—and He painted it across the sky, right through my writing room window.

He always was, always is and always will be...Emmanuel, God with us.
